EE iPhone pay monthly customers handed half a year of Apple News

If you are mobile customer of EE, you may become much better read over the next few months. That's because the mobile network operator has announced an exclusive offer that will give customers six months of Apple News+ free, if you use an Apple device.

Thanks to the exclusive offer with Apple, EE customers will have access to a wide range of digital magazines and newspapers from all over the world, accessible on their Apple mobile device.

The offer from EE will be available to new and existing EE customers with a monthly iPhone mobile plan, or eligible SIM-only voice and data plan. Once activated, EE customers will have full access to Apple News+ and can access their favourite titles over mobile or Wi-Fi, or download issues for offline reading, as well as on iPad and Mac.  It doesn't matter whether you purchase your iPhone from EE directly, or an independent retailer such as.....erm....Chitter Chatter!

So what can EE customers expect from this welcome freebie? Apple News+ gives you a virtual newsagent on your smartphone. The premium subscription service would usually cost £9.99 per month, and is jam-packed full of magazines and newspapers which you might be more accustomed to picking up from the shelves.

Once you are subscribed to Apple News+, you can receive articles from both British and American publications based on your interests. The platform features article collections which have been created by the editors at Apple News, and it can also recommend content for you based on your activity.

Get connected and keep updated

All EE customers will need to access content on Apple News+ once they activate their account is a WiFi connection or mobile signal. They will then be able to read all their favourite publications, as well as download issues so that they can read offline. Reading on the go will be supported by EE's 4G and 5G network, and if you are worried that taking up this offer will compromise any other special deals or perks - don't be, because if you are an EE pay monthly customer, you will still be able to claim six months free Apple Music and BritBox TV.

Marc Allera, the CEO of BT’s consumer division, said: “Through our long-established work with Apple, we continue to offer EE customers a best-in-class, connected Apple experience across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Music. Now customers can get the powerful new iPhone SE on an EE Smart plan, and we’re adding six months free access to Apple News+, so they can keep up to date with the very latest news and premium magazine content at home or on the move, all via our superfast 4G network.”

In April this year, Apple News reached the milestone of 125 million monthly users.  Among the 200+ titles which EE users will have access to on Apple News+ are iconic publications from both sides of the Atlantic, including The Sunday Times, The Wall Street Journal, Empire, Men's Health, Grazia, Hello magazine, National Geographic and Esquire.
