EE Launches Wifi Calling for those with Signal Problems
In order to combat this EE have just launched a new service called WiFi Calling which essentially enables EE users with compatible smartphones to make calls and texts from pretty much anywhere (even the London Underground) providing there is an internet connection.
Some of EE's competitors offer a similar service but EE will be the first operator to provide WiFi Calling that is fully integrated and doesn't require the use of an app or a decent mobile phone signal. There will be no additional costs to EE customers on pay monthly contracts and users will continue to make phone calls and texts in the same way, all that is required is that they connect to Wifi on their handsets. It also doesn't require a super fast broadband connection, anything upwards of 0.5Mbps should be sufficient.
The smartphones which are currently compatible with EE's WiFi Calling are the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, the Lumia 640. It will also be shortly available on all recent iPhones which includes the iPhone 5S, 5C and the latest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
