The big 5G rollout continues across the UK. Is your town on the list?

UK mobile network operator EE has now confirmed that its all-new 5G ultrafast network has been switched on in 13 more cities and towns throughout the United Kingdom.

The newly added locations benefiting from EE 5G include Cannock, Burton-upon Trent, Halifax, Grimsby, Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Portishead, Neath, Tamworth, Stockport, St Albans, Swinton, and Leamington Spa.

These new additions mean the EE’s 5G network is now live in parts of 125 different UK locations.  it will no doubt be a bit longer before 5G reaches the same levels of coverage as the 4G, but it's great to see this new tech more widely available, especially now that the latest phones from Apple and Samsung are 5G-ready.

The most recent independent testing conducted by RootMetrics indicates that EE’s award-winning network recorded the least amount of packet loss and the fastest aggregate median download speed for any UK network. The nationwide testing also revealed it had the lowest jitter. All tests were conducted by RootMetrics using the best smartphones currently available to buy in the UK, over four national mobile networks and all network types.

CEO for consumer business at BT, Marc Allera commented on EE’s continuing investment in keeping the customers who use its services connected to what is important to them personally including online learning, communicating with loved ones via video calls and enjoying mobile games.

He added:

“Our award-winning 5G service is now available in 125 towns and cities across the UK, and our rollout continues so we can bring the best mobile experience to even more people and places.”

All customers who possess an EE pay monthly plan for their smartphone will benefit from 5G service access, enabling them to take full advantage of the latest smartphone’s capabilities.
