HTC_One_M9We're on count down now to the expected launch of the latest HTC flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9. Due to be unveiled on the very same day as Samsung's Galaxy S6 handset, the anticipation and, of course, speculation is building nicely.

Let's take a look at the reports and rumours and how the HTC One M9 is likely to measure up to its predecessor the M8.

Design & Build

If the speculation is true then we could see a very similar design for the HTC One M9. The M8 boasted a metallic unibody build which came in three colours which were Gold, Silver and Grey. The M9 is expected to sport a slightly bigger 5.2-inch Full HD display which compares to the 5-inch LCD3 display of the M8. HTC are likely to keep the aluminium frame as well as offering similar colour choices. The M9 could be slimmer at 7mm and there are rumours that it could offer some type of water resistancy. We expect to see the popular front-facing dual BoomSound speakers form the M8 featuring on the HTC One M9 too.

Processor & Hardware

It seems that the latest Snapdragon 810 processor is in demand for premium smartphones and it could well be included inside the M9. The quad-core, 64-bit powerhouse is certainly an upgrade over the Snapdragon quad-core 801 processor which featured in the HTC One M8.

The battery for the M9 is rumoured to be a 2840mAh piece of kit which is also bigger than the 2600mAh battery which came with the M8 and was decent enough to provide around 24 hours of usage. The trend at the moment is for a minimum of 3GB of RAM in flagship handsets so we expect HTC to follow suit. There could also be a range of storage options from 16GB upwards, all of which will be expandable thanks to the microSD slot. As well as a new and improved version of HTC Sense, the HTC One M9 is very likely to feature Android's new Lollipop 5.0 operating system from the start which will offer some great new features.

Camera

It's thought that the UltraPixel Duo Camera we saw on the HTC One M8 will not be included on the new M9. The latest reports indicate that the M9 will instead come with an impressive 20.7-megapixel camera on the rear together with a dual LED flash and optical image stabilisation. The front-facing camera could also see a decent upgrade with rumours of a powerful 13-megapixel front-facing camera for the ultimate in selfies.

More than one HTC One M9?

Speculation has also been circulating that HTC will in fact unveil two smartphones at their dedicated event on 1st March. As well as the HTC One M9, we could also see a bigger phone launched rumoured to be the HTC One M9 Plus which will come with a 5.5-inch QUAD HD display, a duo rear camera and maybe some sort of fingerprint scanner too.

We'll keep you updated as soon as we get more information.
