LG's G2 - Our Review
LG launched their G2 handset in September of this year to rave reviews. Now available in the UK and literally jam packed with a whole host of features, let's take a good look at this flagship handset and what it can offer.
The LG G2 certainly makes an impression with its 5.2-inch Full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 display complete with a robust Corning Gorilla Glass 2 screen. The touchscreen is simply superb with brilliantly sharp colours and a 424 ppi resolution. LG have rather cleverly managed to fit a large screen into a comparably compact handset thanks to its ultra slim bezels; it’s only slightly bigger in size than the Samsung Galaxy S4 but boasts a bigger screen. Size-wise, the G2 is relatively slim with a depth of 8.9mm and weighs 143 grams.
One feature which certainly sets the LG G2 apart from the competition are the power and volume control keys which are located on the rear of the phone as LG research has found that this is a more intuitive place for the buttons to be placed. The ‘Knockon’ feature also means you can bring the G2 to life by just tapping on the phone twice rather than having to push a button.
The G2 features the latest in mobile phone technology and comes with a Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz quad-core processor alongside 2GB of RAM. Onboard storage is also very decent with options for either 16 or 32GB and it also runs on the latest version of Android Jellybean 4.2. Inside the LG G2 has a monstrous 3000mAh battery which gives it well over 17 hours of talk time on 3G.
The rear 13-megapixel camera comes with optical image stabilisation and the option for autofocus or manual focus. There’s also a choice of shooting modes such as Dual Camera which uses the rear and front facing camera (2-megapixel) to take photos at the same time and Beauty Shot which ensures your pictures and subjects are looking their best.
The LG G2 also boasts some great software features; Guest Mode means you can create different settings and restrictions for other users which makes it ideal for younger kids who can access apps and games whilst saving the hassle of them inadvertently altering all of your personal settings.
