A barrage of new phones were announced over the weekend at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Here’s the latest on the big ones we saw on Sunday.
It’s nearly all screen! Smart move by LG, they’ve binned the modular approach of the G5 and gone one better than widescreen with a 18:9 ratio screen. The tiny bevel edge means you get a 5.7″ screen on a phone that is the same size as last year’s 5.2″ G5. It also packs two 13MP cameras on the back, one of them has a wide-angle lens for big panoramics plus it can shoot 4K video for running on your home cinema screen. It’s water and dust proof with an all-metal frame sandwiched between two panes of gorgeous looking Gorilla Glass. LG finishes it off with 32GB of storage and fast-charging which will give you a 70% charge in 30 mins – perfect if you’re dashing out the door on a Friday night. Plus it supports HDR video which basically means Netflix will look loads better on the G6 than on any other phone available today.

Huawei P10 and P10+
Huawei are now the third biggest smartphone maker in the world, chasing Samsung and Apple. The P10 comes with excellent dual cameras, a sleek overall build and plenty of power. It’s the camera that will really impress with all it’s DSLR-like trickery. The phone is about the same size as an iPhone 7 yet packs a bigger 5.1″ screen vs. iPhone’s 4.7″. It wins on storage space too with 64GB – there is no 32GB variant. The P10+ increases the screen size to 5.5″ with 128GB of memory so plenty of space for your videos, photos, apps and games.
