Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom On the Way?
It's only been a couple of months since the impressive Galaxy S5 was unveiled and there's already a lot of speculation in the press about what we can expect to see from the S5 Mini. It's anticipated that the S5 Mini could make its debut in June - the third of the 'Mini' Galaxy phones - and whilst the rumours have yet to be confirmed, there are plenty of opinions on the type of specs it could feature.
The latest reports indicate that the S5 Mini could come with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 (the S4 Mini's screen is 960 x 540). It's thought that the S5 Mini will be powered by a Snapdragon 2.3GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM.
The exciting news is that Samsung's latest Mini handset is likely to be water and dust resistant to IP67 certification standards. It will run on the latest Android KitKat 4.4 operating system and its rumoured to feature an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
Other details which are emerging indicate that the Galaxy S5 Mini will have 16GB of built-in memory which is expected to be expandable with the inclusion of a MicroSD slot. The battery is thought to be a 2100mAh unit and in terms of design, the S5 Mini is expected to closely resemble the original S5 smartphone.
Recent reports are hinting that Samsung are also planning on unveiling a Zoom version of the Galaxy S5, like they did for its predecessor, the S4. The sort of specs that the S5 Zoom could impress with include a 20.2-megapixel rear-facing camera complete with 10x optical zoom and a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera. The new handset is also expected to feature optical image stabilisation, lots of new camera software and a Xenon flash on the rear. The S5 Zoom is thought to be slightly smaller than the original S5 with a 4.8-inch 720p HD display.
Samsung have just sent out invitations to a dedicated launch on the 29th April in Singapore with the headline 'Kapture The Moment' so our money is on the S5 Zoom making its debut very soon - we'll bring you the latest on the S5 Mini and the S5 Zoom just as soon as we have it.
