Samsung-Galaxy-Core-AdvanceSamsung are extending their range of budget smartphones with the recent announcement of two new handsets – the Galaxy Core Advance and the Galaxy Core Plus. In the summer, Samsung launched their Samsung Galaxy Core smartphone which is available in the UK for less than half the price of the Galaxy S4. We take a look at what you can expect from the Core Advance and the Core Plus.

If you’re looking for a decent all-round mobile phone but can’t stretch to some of the high-end smartphones on the market, it’s worth considering an entry-level handset from Samsung. The Galaxy Core Advance builds on the original Samsung Galaxy Core model with some improved specs and a larger screen.

The Core Advance comes with a 4.7-inch TFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (199 ppi). It will run on Android JellyBean 4.2 and is powered by a dual core 1.2GHz processor along with 1GB of RAM. It has a pretty decent 2000mAH battery given that it’s aimed at the value end of the market. The Core Advance has 8GB of onboard storage which can easily be increased to 64GB thanks to the microSD slot. It will be available in Pearl White and Deep Blue and measures just under 10mm thick and weighs 145 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Advance has a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, touch focus and an LED flash and a VGA camera on the front. In terms of pre-loaded apps the Galaxy Core will feature several Google apps including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Search and Google Talk alongside YouTube and a selection of image and video editing apps. It’s anticipated that the Galaxy Core Advance will be available to buy in the UK in the first quarter of 2014.
