Only 1 day to go until Christmas and its likely that all your Christmas presents are bought, wrapped and under the tree.

But you've got a birthday and another Christmas coming up in 2013.  Is it too early to put together you lists for those? Perhaps, but for those of you that would like to pencil a few things in, here are the likely smartphone and tablet launches next year

bb10-l-series-1This is the month which will see the arrival of 4G from EE in more cities, including Bradford, Chelmsford, Coventry, Doncaster, Dudley, Leicester, Luton, Newport, Reading, Rotherham, St Albans, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Watford, West Bromwich, and Wolverhampton to add to the original 11 launch cities. So it's the ideal time to get yourself a new 4G enabled smartphone so you can benefit from 5x faster download speeds.

March will also see the new Blackberry 10 suite of devices become available - including touchscreen and keypad versions - although the phone will be officially launched at an event on 30th January.

Is rumoured to be the launch month for the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy SIV.  So what's the speculation as to what the new Samsung flagship phone will be like? Well, we've heard that it will be sporting a 5 inch screen (slightly bigger than the 4.8 inches of the SIII) with a Super AMOLED 1080 resolution panel, a superfast processor and a 13 megapixel camera.

In a busy year for Apple, July is likely to be the year we see the launch of the iPhone 5S.  The main differences are likely to be a better camera and battery, and the fact that it' s available in a range of colours (similar to the iPod Touch). There has been some speculation that the screen will grow from the current 4 inches but we think this is unlikely.

Although no-one is speculating on firm dates yet, we think the Autumn is the likeliest launch date for the new, improved iPad Mini.

There's been little speculation of the 2nd generation of this device in the industry but the likelihood is that it will have a faster processor and a higher resolution display (2,058 x 1,536 pixels, yielding a pixel density of 326 ppi).

For Next Christmas...

If you've got very generous friends or family, or if you've been a very good boy or girl for Santa, you could have a Apple TV in your stocking next Christmas.

Apple-TV-MacRumors-01Well, that's if Apple decides to make one. Their suppliers have confirmed that Apple has been testing designs for a large screen, high definition television and Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, has stated that televisions are an area of 'intense interest' for the company.  But that's no guarantee we'll see one soon, if at all.

Perhaps you Apple fans need to make some Christmas wishes?

What you will be sure to see before next Christmas - according to industry analysts at least - is the iPhone 6.  Apparently, Apple are playing with different prototypes at the moment but one that's been seen has a screen size of 4.8 inches - much bigger than the 4 inches of the iPhone 5 and comparable to the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Analyst also expect it to be packing a Apple A7 quad-core processor, feature full gesture control and be based on a completely new design.
