It’s only August and yet we’re already thinking about Christmas and the smartphones which are expected to be launched between now and then! The Christmas market is pretty huge for mobile phone manufacturers so it’s no surprise that many new and rather exciting smartphones will be unveiled over the next few months. Here are our pick of the bunch:
Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini
Available in the next few weeks will be the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. Despite its compact size the S5 Mini will still sport a good-sized 4.5-inch screen and a decent resolution of 326 pixels per inch. Like the S5, the S5 Mini is water and dust resistant and comes with a fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor.
There is a huge amount of speculation surrounding Apple’s new iPhone 6 handsets. To sum it up, we’re expecting two new iPhone 6 smartphones which will both be bigger than their predecessors at 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches. The latest news is that these two new iPhones will be unveiled at an Apple Event on September 9th with the 4.7-inch model likely to be available in stores a couple of weeks later and the 5.5-inch model possibly a few months afterwards. The iPhone 6 will run on iOS 8 and feature the much anticipated HealthKit health and fitness monitoring.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Also launching in September will be the latest smartphone in the Samsung Note series, the Note 4. It’s anticipated to come with a huge 5.7-inch display, in a choice of 4 colours and be water and dust resistant with an IP67 certification. The Galaxy Note 4 could also pack in a lot of power with a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and an impressive 16-megapixel rear camera.
Sony Xperia Z3
September is certainly going to be a busy month for new smartphone releases. Expected to launch on the 3rd September is Sony’s new premium handset the Xperia Z3. The Z3 is thought to come with some great top-end specs which include a 3.1GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 5.15-inch display and a 20.7-megapixel camera. Sony are also rumoured to be possibly announcing details of a new SmartWatch 3. Watch this space.
