The HTC One M9 - Our Review
It's been a very exciting week in the mobile phone world, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S6 making its debut, the eagerly awaited new flagship smartphone from HTC was launched. The HTC One M9 was unveiled earlier this week and it's a real beauty. Here's the lowdown on the One M9.
The HTC One M9 features a stunning 5-inch Full HD 1080p display (441 pixels per inch) protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 4 screen. The iconic dual BoomSound speakers on the front of the handset now feature Dolby surround sound technology for an even richer and enhanced sound experience. Boasting an attractive dual-tone metallic unibody design, the One M9 will be available in a range of 4 colours which are Amber Gold, Gunmetal Grey, Gold/Pink and Silver/Rose Gold and will be on sale in a matter of weeks.
On the rear of the HTC One M9 is an impressive 20-megapixel camera with a f/2.2 aperture lens, auto focus, optical image stabilisation to combat any camera shake, a dual LED flash and 4K video recording. The front-facing camera is ideal for selfies as it's an excellent 4-megapixel UltraPixel snapper - the same as featured on the rear of the HTC One M8. Both of the HTC One M9 cameras come with dynamic exposure for perfectly exposed shots and the HTC One Gallery app provides centralised storage for all photos including those posted on social media.
The inside of the HTC One M9 has also been upgraded and includes the new superfast Snapdragon 810 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable onboard storage (up to a max of 128GB with a microSD card). With a whopping 2840mAh battery, the M9 offers around 22 hours of 3G talk time or over 25 hours of 2G talk time. It also offers fast battery charging with the battery charging to sixty per cent of its capacity in just 30 minutes.
The HTC One M9 runs on the new Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system and the revamped HTC Sense User Interface. The upgraded HTC Sense 7 now provides a more personalised interface with apps being suggested based on your location as well as new items in HTC Blinkfeed and suggestions for restaurants etc when you're out and about. Sense 7 also gives you the option of apply themes to your M9 smartphone so you can customise how it looks with a choice of colours, wallpapers, fonts and icons.
