Apple’s most recent iPhones, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, saw an increase in the size of the displays from their traditional 4-inch screen. However it would appear that the 4-inch iPhone is still proving to be popular as sales of the iPhone 5 and 5S continue to be strong. Industry analyst think this popularity is not just down to price, but also due to people preferring the smaller form factor of the earlier handsets, particularly as they’re easier to operate with one hand.
So there’s been a lot of rumours and speculation that Apple will be bringing out a 4-inch iPhone 6C which, like the iPhone 5C, will be a budget smartphone. So if there is an iPhone 6C or even an iPhone 6 Mini, what specifications can we expect to see?
Like the iPhone 5C, the 6C is rumoured to come with a plastic design with curved edges and in a range of bright colours. Images published online show a rear cover with an oval space for the camera flash and extra speaker holes at the bottom of the handset. Usually a budget smartphone will come with pared down specs, however it’s thought that the iPhone 6C will have an A8 processor, NFC and will feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner – the same as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It certainly looks like it will therefore be compatible with Apple Pay when it’s released later this year. Another rumour is that the iPhone 6C will feature Apple’s health monitoring and tracking capabilities.
So will they or won’t they? We think they will, but we may not see the iPhone 6C this year. More likely in 2016.
