12-11-lumia-930There have been rather a few exciting reports regarding the next in the Lumia series of flagship smartphones. The Microsoft Lumia 940 looks like it's going to feature some top-notch specs as you might expect from a premium handset. The leaked details are thought to have emerged from a factory which supplies components to the Lumia range of smartphones and the details so far point to some new and exciting features.

First up is speculation that the Lumia 940 will come with a 5-inch 1080p resolution display. The display will be protected by a Gorilla Glass 4 screen. This is the first mention of Gorilla Glass 4 we've come across so if the rumours are true, the 940 could be one of the very first smartphones to feature it. The Microsoft Lumia 940 could also boast a whopping 24-megapixel rear facing PureView camera which will be capable of shooting video in 4K at 60 frames per second. There's speculation that there will be a very respectable 5-megapixel camera on the front.

Reports indicate that the high-end Lumia 940 will run on a new version of the Windows Phone operating system called Windows Phone 10 and it will pack in a powerful quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor and an impressive 3GB of RAM. It's thought that there will be a choice of models which will offer different levels of onboard storage ranging from 32GB up to 128GB. The Lumia 940 is also expected to feature NFC and will be around 8.9mm thin.

It's not known when we could expect the Lumia 940 to be unveiled but it's likely to be sometime in 2015 given that these are some of the first rumours concerning the possible existence of Gorilla Glass 4 and Windows Phone 10. What this space for more news as soon as we have it.
