The Samsung Galaxy SIV - What to Expect
The launch date for Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is almost upon us, the most eagerly anticipated smartphone launch for 2013 so far, the S4 will be unveiled next week in New York. The hype is building and rumours are coming in fast and furious, so this is what we are expecting from Samsung’s new super-smartphone.
Starting with the look of the handset, the screen is likely to be slightly larger in size than the Samsung S3 with a 4.99 or 5-inch super AMOLED, full HD screen. The screen resolution is rumoured to be 1920x1080 giving it a density of 441ppi. The latest ‘leaks’ have discounted a flexible, bendy screen for the S4 model but we could still be surprised next week.
Samsung’s S4 is likely to run Android 4.2.1 Jellybean and is expected to be powered by an impressive 8-core Exynos 5 Octa 5410 1.8GHz processor with 2GB of RAM. There is still a lot of debate surrounding the level of on-board storage with anything from 16 to 64GB possible. It will also feature Near Field Communications for contactless payments and will be compatible with 4G.
There have been recent rumours that the S4 will feature cutting edge ‘Smart Scroll’ eye-tracking technology which will enable the user to automatically scroll pages up and down the screen depending on the position of the user’s eyes. It’s also likely to have ‘Smart Pause’ which will pause any media playing on the handset if the user’s head turns away from the screen.
Cameras-wise, the main rear-facing camera will reportedly be 13-megapixel with a LED flash. There seems to be little information regarding the front-facing camera at the moment so we’ll have to wait for the actual details once the S4 is unveiled.
Be sure to keep an eye on our blog this time next week for more details of the Samsung Galaxy S4 handset once it’s been unveiled and details on how you can get your hands on your very own model very soon!
